Collections Department Historical Sketch The McNeese Faculty Wives Club was formed in 1952. Mrs. Lether E. Frazar, wife of MSU’s President, hosted the organizing meeting for the club on April 8, 1952. Mrs. Frazar sponsored the club’s organization and was its first honorary president. The purpose of the club was to promote fellowship among the wives of the faculty through social and cultural activities. Twenty faculty wives attended the first meeting. On March 18, 1953, twenty-five members signed a constitution and bylaws for the club. The club’s social events included teas, newcomer socials, bridge groups, scrapbook compilations, and continuing education classes. The club disbanded in 1990. Scope and Content Note The McNeese Faculty Wives Club Records are divided into two series: Series I. Scrapbooks and yearbooks and Series II. Presidents' records. The scrapbooks contain photographs, newsletters, reports, and newspaper clippings. The yearbooks consist of a list of members’ names and addresses and basic club information. The President’s records consist of meeting minutes, committee reports, and other documents pertaining to club business. The first folder of President’s records contains the club’s constitution and bylaws. The President’s records also contain a plaque honoring the club’s donations to the 1983 Campus Beautification Drive. All of the club’s records are divided by academic year (summer through spring).
