Mack Abraham/Board of Trustees Collection
Contains files from Abraham's tenure on the Board of Trustees, 1981-1986, including information on board meetings, budgets, programs, salaries, reports, etc. for the schools under the jurisdiction of the Board.

Allen Parish Miscellaneous Collection
Includes a World War I record of Allen Parish veterans, a map showing the routes of French and Spanish explorers and information on the Hargrove Clinic and Hospital.

Kathleen Allums Papers
The collection consists of Allums’ publication, Piano Teaching Literature, a partial scrapbook on La Voix de Musique from the 1940s at McNeese, programs for various recitals, and a 1913 composition published by the Regent Music Publishing Company in Lake Charles by Edwin H. See.

American Association of University Women-Lake Charles Branch/Lake Area University Women Collection
Contains scrapbooks, yearbooks, newsletters, miscellaneous booklets, papers and lists concerning the AAUW in Lake Charles from 1940 to the 1980s.

American Rice Growers Association
Contains minutes of the Board of Directors meetings, 1928-1971; minutes of the Executive Committee meetings, 1921-1971; annual membership meetings, 1924-1970; and minutes of the Board of Trustees meetings, 1921-1928.

The J. Burton Andrepont Papers
The collection consists of a scrapbook compiled by J. Burton Andrepont’s secretary, Lynelle Vice, 1983-1986. The scrapbook mostly contains newspaper clippings, with a few photographs. The collection also includes a videocassette, audiocassette, and a transcript of an oral history interview with Andrepont on October 1, 2004.

Arcade Theatre Collection
Contains theatre programs and photographs from the Arcade Theatre; correspondence, reports and other materials concerning restoration efforts from 1977-1985; and material concerning the building of the Arcade Theatre Pavilion from 1986-1992.

Dr. Karl Everett Ashburn Collection
Contains original text of speeches and manuscripts, course materials and various publications related to Dr. Ashburn's time at McNeese State University.

William Walker Ayer, Jr. Papers
The collection consists of Contraband (newspaper) clippings from Ayer’s years at McNeese Junior College (1940-1941) and an MJC football sweater (1940).

The James C. "Jim" Beam Collection
The collection contains the editorials written by Beam during his years with the Lake Charles American Press from 1962 to the present.

The John Albert (J. A.) Bel Collection
The collection, primarily from the late 1800s to the mid 1900s, consists of three (3) J. A. Bel Lumber Company, Ltd. plat books of the City of Lake Charles; a book of minutes from meetings of the Majestic Hotel’s Board of Directors; a book of shares for the Majestic Hotel; an Appraisal/Valuation Report conducted for the J. A. Bel Lumber Company site; a Souvenir Edition of the Lake Charles Daily American; and a 1936 City of Lake Charles street map.

Inez Guidry Benevage Collection
The collection contains receipts, postcards and photographs from 1888-1935 and scrapbooks of Lake Charles American Press newspaper clippings from 1942-1980.  The scrapbooks were compiled by Mrs. Benevage and primarily deal with Hurricane Audrey, early Lake Charles homes, the trials of Sheriff Henry A. "Ham" Reid, Jr. and the defendants in cases of labor violence at Ellender Bridge (Hackberry) and the Jupiter Chemical Company (Lake Charles), as well as other area events.

The Robert C. Benoit Collection
The collection contains documents and research reflecting Benoit's interest in local history. This includes material relating to Gerstner Field, Edmund Chamberlain, Toni Jo Henry, and John A. Stockwell. His personal files cover a wide range of local history topics. Benoit's photography includes local youth sports and LaGrange High School events. Other material relates to the history of the University United Methodist Church in Lake Charles.

The Joe Wood Berry Photographs
The collection consists of 5 photographs of Louisiana public officials taken during Berry's career as a lobbyist.

M. L. Blackshere Collection
One ledger from the M. L. Blackshere Intermediate Department from 1885.  The type of company and location are not known.

W. T. Block, Jr. Papers
The collection consists of articles written by W. T. Block, Jr., a historian from Nederland, Texas. Mr. Block researches and writes articles about Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana, including topics such as the Civil War, the history of communities and towns, biographies of famous and infamous characters, hurricanes, lumber towns, pirates, steamboats, and oil.  Additional articles may be located at the East Texas Research Center at Stephen F. Austin State University. Mr. Block has written several books which are located in the Frazar Memorial Library Archives and Special Collections Department.

Board of Trustees for State Colleges and Universities/Board of Supervisors Collection
Contains minutes of the board meetings from 1975 to date. Name changed to Board of Supervisors under the University of Louisiana System.

Owen "Buddy" Bourque Collection
The collection contains photographs and information relating primarily to the history of Marion High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and to the educational career and family of Owen “Buddy” Bourque.

Jack Brady Collection
Contains an embosser, several Beacon newspaper typesettings, articles of incorporation, a photograph including Jack Brady and an audiodisc from a 1955 radio show.

Les Brodeuses Scrapbooks
The collection consists of two scrapbooks outlining the activities of Les Brodeuses, a community group of people interested in rug hooking. The scrapbooks (1982-1989) include photographs, invitations, membership lists, notices of meetings, and other ephemera.

Blair Buchanan Collection
The collection contains letters from Buchanan to his family in Lake Arthur written during World War I when Buchanan was stationed in Georgia, North Carolina and overseas.

Dr. Francis G. Bulber Collection
The collection contains CDs (transferred from reel-to-reel tapes) of performances conducted by Dr. Bulber from dates prior to 1954 to 1978. The performances are primarily operas performed by students at McNeese, the annual performance of The Messiah, and the Lake Charles Civic Symphony.

Mrs. A. D. Bulloch Collection
Contains a 1913 Lake Charles High School Yearbook and photographs and postcards depicting early Lake Charles scenes.  Donated by an early Lake Charles resident.

W. T. Burton Industries Collection
Contains journals, record books, invoice books, cash books, account books, ledgers and other miscellaneous records relating to the early W. T. Burton Industries of Sulphur, LA.

William T. Burton Collection
Contains plaques awarded to Burton by various clubs and organizations and photographs primarily of Burton and Junior Livestock Show FFA and 4-H members with their prize-winning sheep and pigs.

The Business and Professional Women's Club of Jennings Collection
Contains minutes, lists of members, scrapbooks, reports and other miscellaneous records and items from this association from 1949-1992.

The Business and Professional Women's Club of Lake Charles Collection
Contains minutes, lists of members, scrapbooks, reports and other miscellaneous records and items from this association from 1931-1996.

Calcasieu Cut-Ups Quilt Guild Collection
The collection contains photo albums and meeting information from 1986-1997.

Calcasieu Forum Collection
The Calcasieu Forum meets to discuss various topics in literature, foreign countries, and current events. The records consist of programs, meeting minutes, membership information, correspondence, and clippings (1960-2003).

Calcasieu Historical Preservation Society Records
The Calcasieu Historical Preservation Society Records consist of the Society's operating records and individual files on landmarks in Southwest Louisiana.

Calcasieu Librarians' Association Collection
Contains meeting announcements, minutes, lists of members and miscellaneous items from this association from 1969-1988.

Calcasieu Paper Company Collection
Two scrapbooks of the Calcasieu Paper Company in Elizabeth, LA, one containing general information and another concentrating on strike violence, articles of incorporation of the Elizabeth Hospital and pamphlets and booklets about the mill and Elizabeth. Also includes operating and account ledgers from 1926-1968 and negatives showing mill expansion from 1949-1950. Photographs taken by photographer from H. K. Ferguson Company.

Calcasieu Parish Aerial Map Collection
Aerial maps (photographs) of Calcasieu Parish taken during 1940 by Edgar Tobin Aerial Surveys of San Antonio.

Calcasieu Parish Library Collection
Scrapbooks of the Lake Charles Garden Club and the Lake Charles School System, Lake Charles Teachers' Association information, material relating to the Port of Lake Charles, copies of old newspapers, various pamphlets ad booklets from local organizations and information regarding Chennault Air Force Base and Fort Polk.

Calcasieu Parish Medical Society Alliance Collection
The collection contains Doctors' Day scrapbooks, Research and Romance of Medicine scrapbooks, miscellaneous books, pamphlets and information on hospitals and physicians in Calcasieu Parish.  Covers 1955-present. Also contains NEWS AND VIEWS booklets of the Woman's Auxiliary to the Louisiana Medical Society, 1956-1969.

Calcasieu Parish School Board Collection
Contains photographs of Calcasieu Parish schools, a photograph of a Sulphur school faculty, several unidentified photographs, and a cheerleader uniform from Hamilton Elementary School. Also contains two ledgers 1887-1911 containing handwritten minutes of the school board.

Calcasieu River Lighthouse Collection
Contains photographs, site plans, building plans, correspondence, an oral history interview and other material concerning the Calcasieu River Lighthouse which was located at Cameron, LA on the west bank of the river from 1876-1940.

The Catholic Church in Lake Charles Collection
The collection contains photographs, clippings, notes, and an oral history relating to the parishes, schools, and hospital of the Catholic Church in Lake Charles.  The collection also includes notes and photographs that Lloyd G. Barras used to write her book, The Vine and The Branches:  A History of the Catholic Church in Lake Charles.

The Carl Cathers Papers
The collection consists of clippings, photographs, postcards, and papers relating to Carl Cathers, Anne Elstner Matthews and her family.

The Edward M. Carmouche Papers
The collection consists primarily of letters written by Edward M. Carmouche to his mother, Mrs. Paul F. Carmouche, during his service in the United States and overseas in World War II from 1944 to 1946.

Central School Collection
The collection contains various items relating to Central School, primarily in the 1940s-1950s. Included are student newspapers, photographs of students and faculty, some miscellaneous certificates, programs, report cards, and correspondence. The collection also includes information on the history and restoration of the building.

Lt. General Claire L. Chennault/Chennault Air Force Base Collection
The collection contains dedication papers and photographs of the ceremony renaming the base, photographs and press releases from the base, articles about General Chennault, photographs and obituary of General Chennault, SKYWAY TIMES and flood photographs, primarily from the 1950s and 1960s.

Children of the American Revolution Collection
The collection contains scrapbooks on club activities and American Indians from 1955 to 1967 including Fort Atkinson Society and Louis XIV.

Church Histories Collection
Histories of churches in Lake Charles and the five-parish area as well as a set of pen and ink drawings of early Lake Charles Catholic Schools.

Cities Service Refinery Photograph Collection
The collection consists of 20 photograph booklets dated from February 1943 to March 1944 showing the construction progress of the butadiene plant. The first booklet also contains photographs of part of the construction of the basic refinery.

City of Lake Charles Mayor's Office Collection
The collection contains documents donated by the city including topics programs, federal files, fire department files, a general file, public works documents, city court documents and other such files.

Ida King Collette Collection
Contains postcards to various people, primarily Ida King Collette (1900s-1960s).   Postcards show miscellaneous greetings and scenes from around the world including some of Lake Charles, LA and Jennings, LA.

Allen Commander Collection
Contains miscellaneous material about Vietnam sent to KPLC-TV by Commander and correspondence between Commander and former McNeese Library Director, Samuel J. Marino, 1966.

Constitutional Convention of Louisiana, 1973-1974
Contains material gathered by delegates Mack Abraham and Gerald Weiss during the writing of the constitution.  Includes committee and delegate proposals and resolutions, information on work done in committees, especially the Committee on the Bill of Rights and Elections and the committee on the Executive Department and delegate information.

The Geneva Cotten Papers
The papers, primarily from the 1970s, consist of conference materials and printed materials regarding women’s rights issues. The conferences Cotten attended include the Governor’s Conference on Women, June, 1976, and the Mayor’s Commission on Women.

Council for International Concerns Collection
The collection contains articles of incorporation, minutes, correspondence and clippings about the CIC, an organization formed to recognize the multi-heritage of the Southwest Louisiana area.  Programs and activities include a Language Bank and International Week.

Nathan Curtis Interviews
The collection consists of interviews conducted by Nathan Curtis for his KOJO 91.7 FM radio show “An Encouraging Word.” The show ran from 1995 through 1997. The interviews cover a variety of topics, including politics and church related issues.

Daughters of the American Revolution-Calcasieu Chapter Collection
The collection contains chapter yearbook from 1925-present, scrapbooks from 1996-1997 and miscellaneous files on awards, certificates, the Children of the American Revolution (CAR), programs and other papers.

Henry H. Davis Collection
Reminiscences of Mr. Davis concerning his early years in Lake Charles.  Includes stories, newspaper articles and photographs, and a history of the Davis family.

Msgr. Irving A. DeBlanc Papers
The Monsignor Irving A. DeBlanc Papers consist of scrapbooks, photographs, and publications. The ten scrapbooks, ca. 1950 to 2000, contain photographs, letters, and mementos about DeBlanc’s work with parishioners. The publications consist of pamphlets and booklets DeBlanc wrote in support of his ministry.

Michael K. Dees/Board of Regents Collection
The collection consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings, manuals, annual reports, meeting minutes and various other documents relating to Michael K. Dees' time as a member of the Louisiana Board of Regents.

The Joseph A. Delafield Bond Transcript Collection
The bound volumes of bond transcripts contain descriptions of numerous publicly financed projects in Louisiana, but more specifically in Southwest Louisiana. Included are school districts, industrial development boards, public trust authorities, and other various public entities.

The Diggers and Weeders Garden Club Records
The collection contains material related the Arbor Day, Conservation, Horticulture, and other Awards won by the Club from 1981 – 2003 in addition to miscellaneous programs, reports, and correspondence. The collection also contains scrapbooks of newspaper clippings, photographs and other memorabilia.

Jack V. Doland Papers
The collection consists of six photographs, ca. 1987; eulogies, proclamations, and letters surrounding Doland’s death, 1991-1992; and an advertising proof sheet for Doland’s 1987 campaign for the Louisiana Senate.

Andre Dubus Collection
Clippings, correspondence, signed and unsigned samples of his literary works, handwritten and typed manuscripts of this locally-born author.

Dunn and Quinn Collection
The Dunn and Quinn Collection consists of architectural drawings, renderings and correspondence related to various projects that the architectural firm has undertaken from the years 1939-1996.

Laura Dupuis Photographs
The Laura Dupuis Photographs contain images of parades and rodeos in Lake Charles during the years 1982-2001.

Enterprise Club Collection
The collection contains annual programs, meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, photographs and other documents from this women's service organization from 1924 to 2002.

F
First Christian Church Collection
The collection contains written histories of the First Christian Church in Lake Charles, Louisiana, including the centennial history published in 1994. Materials used to write and illustrate the histories are also included in the collection, primarily photographs, minutes of meetings, a scrapbook, newsletters, financial materials and correspondence.

Daniel T. Flavin Papers
The Papers deal primarily with the legislative work of Dan Flavin, State Representative from District 36.  The Papers consist of materials primarily about Calcasieu and Cameron Parish legislative issues and some personal documents and mementos.

Dr. C. W. Fogleman Collection

The collection consists primarily of community studies of Louisiana towns written by students of Dr. Fogleman from 1960 to 1983. Other studies include education, public health, highways, and Chennault Air Force Base. The collection also contains publications, correspondence, and photographs relating to Hurricane Audrey.

Fourth Ward Elementary School Collection
Student handbooks, PTA handbooks and PTA yearbooks from 1940-1967.

Dr. G. Thomas Fox Photograph Collection
The collection contains slides and film pertaining to various McNeese State University Bayou Players productions and Lake Charles Little Theatre performances from 1979 to 1984.

Lether E. Frazar Collection
Contains general and miscellaneous information about L. E. Frazar, correspondence to and from L. E. Frazar dating from 1935-1959, scholarships issued from 1956-1960, information about Louisiana schools and government, wool hat, boxing gloves and photographs.

William Lee "Bill" Gabbert Photographic Collection
Prints and negatives from the studio of Bill Gabbert, a local photographer, as well as various receipts, letters and slides.

John M. Gabriel Architectural Drawings Collection
A Collection of architectural drawings from John M. Gabriel, Lake Charles architect from the early 1940s to the late 1980s.   Included in the collection are residences, businesses, schools and churches.

E. R. Gammage Collection
The collection contains photographs, negatives, films and stories produced by Westlake, LA photographer E. R. Gammage.

Curley Gauthier Collection
Contains a newspaper article about Curley Gauthier (Pioneer Cattleman) and three ledger books of expenses, 1938-1960.

Forest Fern Gauthier Papers
The Forest Fern Gauthier Papers consist of documents, booklets, ephemera, a scrapbook, and a yearbook, ca. 1910-1971. The Papers document Miss Gauthier’s and her family’s involvement in local civic and cultural organizations as well as their personal lives. The “club” documents are mainly bylaws and publications produced by organizations such as the Jennings Woman’s Literary Club, the Lake Arthur Woman’s Library Association, the Jennings Music Club, etc. The “personal” documents are mementos and keepsakes belonging to various members of the Gauthier family. Also included is Miss Gauthier’s large scrapbook of newspaper clippings and correspondence.

Barbara Gunn Gayle Papers
Photographs of S. W. Gordon and Gordon's Drug Store, the "Louisiana Rexall Club", and various groups of Lake Charles doctors during the 1940s-1950s.

Edwin F. Gayle Collection
Correspondence from 1903-06 and undated photographs concerning Lake Charles attorney, educator and civic leader, Edwin F. Gayle.

Gerstner Field Collection
Correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, records from the National Archives, transcripts of oral histories and other materials concerning Gerstner Field, the aviation training field located south of Lake Charles from 1917-1921.

Gill Family Collection
The collection consists of newspaper clippings and photographs regarding the Gill Family of Lake Charles, primarily H. C. Gill.

The Gay Gomez Wetland Biography Collection
The collection consists of printed materials used by Gay Gomez to prepare the manuscript for A Wetland Biography: Seasons on Louisiana’s Chenier Plain (1998). The materials refer to the wetlands, culture, history, biology, wildlife, people, and places of Cameron Parish. 

Goos Family Collection
Genealogy of one of the earliest shipbuilding families in Lake Charles.  Includes copies of the Friesian Roundtable and photocopies of correspondence by family members.

The Goretti School Collection
The Collection consists of photographs, clothing, trophies, and other memorabilia of the Goretti School, donated by alumni.

Governor's Program for Gifted Children Collection
The collection contains files of The Thinker and Miles To Go (cataloged in special collections), both publications by the children enrolled in the summer program. Also included are office files and personal files of the founder, Dr. George Middleton.

Greater Lake Charles Chamber of Commerce Collection
An extensive photographic collection also containing slides, newspaper articles, cassette tapes and other items from this organization of Calcasieu and Cameron Parish business people.  The materials cover the years 1964-1986.

The Rodney J. Guilbeaux, Jr. Collection
The collection contains one scrapbook plus additional loose photographs representing the historical record of the Southwest District Fat Stock Show and Rodeo in Lake Charles in 1965. Guilbeaux was co-chair of the event, along with Ed Prendergast. The scrapbook contains newspaper clippings from area newspapers and many photographs of events, contests, television and rodeo stars.

Gulf Biologic Station Collection
The collection contains the Bulletins of the Gulf Biologic Station, published 1902-1910.  These bulletins detail the research performed at the Gulf Biologic Station in Cameron, LA.  Also included in the collection are photographs, newspaper articles and correspondence ranging from 1900-2002.

The Hale and Eddy Collection
Abstracts, appraisals, loan applications and other miscellaneous records relating to real estate transactions for the time period 1942 to 1959.

Floyd Hamilton Collection
Personal and professional diaries of prominent citizen and civic leader, for many years active in the city school system and as district engineer for the state highway commission.  Diaries cover the years 1913-1939.

Dorothy Barbe Hanchey Collection
The collection contains material relating to the Pierce and Barbe families, especially Lucile Pierce Barbe and Paul Jules Barbe; items reflecting aspects of Lake Charles history including abstracts, tax records, maps, warranty deeds, and photographs; documents concerning Little Pecan Island and Fort Davis, Texas; genealogical research on the Barbe, Pierce, Sallier, Moss, LeBleu, Pujo, and Hanchey families; and material from Dorothy Barbe’s school years at LSU, Paul J. Barbe’s years at Tulane and Lucile Pierce Barbe’s years at Brenau College and Conservatory.

Betty Harless Papers
The papers consist of four series: Lake Charles City Schools, the National Secretaries Association, the Louisiana Music Educators Association, and Personal papers. The Lake Charles City Schools Series presents a snapshot of the school system during the 1950s and 1960s. The National Secretaries Association Series consists of scrapbooks and photographs of her membership in the association. The Louisiana Music Educators Association Series consists of documents collected by Miss Harless during her membership in the association, 1974-1975. The Personal Papers Series consists of letters to Betty Harless from family and friends, mostly during World War II.

Rosa Hart/Lake Charles Little Theatre Collection
Personal and organizational scrapbooks compiled by the first director and co-founder of the Lake Charles Little Theatre, including playbills, photographs, clippings, postcards, correspondence.  Covers the years 1927-1966.

Cleora C. Helbing Papers

The collection consists of letters written by Helbing to Harris in which she reported on the home economics programs. There is also a cover letter in which Harris sends the reports as a circular to the public school officials, high school principals, and teachers of home economics. These were all written in December 1919.

Alba Heywood Collection
Alba Heywood was one of the Heywood brothers who brought in Louisiana's first oil well.   This collection contains legal and financial forms and correspondence from the Heywood's various business ventures from 1899-1921.  The collection also contains photographs and scrapbooks from Alba's early career as the leader of Alba Heywood's Concert Company and miscellaneous information from his son, Alba, Jr.

Scott Heywood Collection
Business and personal correspondence from 1899 to the 1950s concerning Mr. Heywood's many business and political activities.  Frequently referred to as the father of the Louisiana oil industry, W. Scott Heywood was also a state senator from Jennings.  The collection also contains miscellaneous photographs, charts and maps.

R. Gordon Holcombe/Friends of the Library Collection
The Holcombe Collection consists of audio recordings of news and interviews, personal correspondence and documents, and documents concerning the formation of the Frazar Memorial Library Friends of the Library. Additional materials regarding the reestablishment of the Friends group in 1981 are located in the Frazar Memorial Library Collection.

Harry Hollins Collection
Papers documenting the legislative and political career of Harry Hollins, state representative from Lake Charles, 1963-1989.

Houston Family History Collection
This collection consists of a copy of the book Houston Family History by Grace H. Cornish and 7 photographs showing J. M. Houston's residence and wood-yard, the Dudley Family camp near Lake Arthur and duck hunting photos.

Horace Leonard "Hutch" Hutchison Papers
This collection contains loose photographs, photograph albums, clippings, maps, and military papers from World War II. Hutchison took many of the photographs while working with the 125th Liaison Squadron in England, France, Germany, Belgium, and other overseas locations.

This collection contains financial records, correspondence and promotional items that relate to the Irish/Italian Festival of Lake Charles.

Kay Iles Papers
The collection consists of newspaper clippings of Iles’ campaign for Representative, campaign ephemera, five photographs of Iles visiting a junior high school classroom, and a bound volume (The Louisiana House of Representatives 2003 Yearbook for Rep. Iles).  The yearbook outlines Iles’ voting record and bills she authored.

Jennings United Methodist Church Collection
The collection contains minutes of meetings and conferences, records of Sunday Schools and youth groups, mission societies and church newsletters. It also contains treasurer’s reports, attendance rolls, and correspondence. The items in the collection record the operation and activities of the church throughout its history and through several name changes.

Kathryn Simmons Johnson Papers
Information relating to the history of Reeves, Louisiana, Reeves High School 1922-1955, and the Reeves Community Club 1955-1956. Also includes biographical information on Mrs. Johnson, author of Patteran, and George Herbert Johnson, Reeves High School Principal and Mrs. Johnson's husband.

Thad Johnson Papers
Awards, resolutions, certificates, correspondence, newspaper articles, and plaques relating to the life and career of Thad Johnson, native of Reeves, Louisiana, and sports editor for the Beaumont Enterprise for many years.

Sam Jones Collection
Five scrapbooks of Governor Jones' administration from 1941-1944, primarily newspaper clippings.

The Robert "Bob" G. Jones Papers
The collection consists of photocopies of two scrapbooks kept by Robert “Bob” G. Jones during his two political campaigns and audio tapes campaign ads and speeches. Also includes a film showing his father, former Governor Sam Houston Jones, making a speech.

Robert Jordahl Music Collection
The collection consists of original musical works written by Robert Jordahl, Professor of Music at McNeese State University.  It includes published and unpublished music as well as books, articles, clippings and Jordahl’s thesis and dissertation.

Kappa Kappa Iota Collection
Kappa Kappa Iota, a national sorority for women teachers, was organized in 1921 by a group of public school and college teachers in Oklahoma.  The Louisiana Alpha Conclave was organized in 1951 and by 1991 there were over 50 local conclaves formed in the state.  The Alpha Rho Conclave of Lake Charles is responsible for the state records of the sorority being housed in the McNeese Archives.   The collection contains presidents' letters and handbooks, annual state convention programs, bylaws and scrapbooks from 1954.

Leopold Kaufman Collection
Receipts from local businesses and from other areas for merchandise sold to Leopold Kaufman, a prominent Lake Charles merchant during the late 1880s to the early 1900s.  Also included are ledgers from 1882-1900.

Kelly, Weber Company Collection
The collection contains general ledgers, account books and journals from Kelly, Weber Company, a wholesale and retail grocery firm, whose main office was located in Lake Charles from 1896 to the 1980s.  The collection also contains miscellaneous information on land purchases and sales.

Alvin O. King Collection
The collection contains correspondence, newspapers, business papers, diaries, political papers, tokens and photographs from Alvin O. King, former Louisiana state senator (1924-1931), governor (1932), associate of Kelly-Weber Company and publisher of the Southwest Citizen (1949-1951).

C. A. King II Collection
Contains photocopies of information pertaining to the King family and home, the Weber-King Lumber Company, the Farmers Rice Milling Company, the Powell Lumber Company and the 1918 hurricane in Lake Charles.

Voris King Collection
Contains certificates, photographs and yearbooks from Lake Charles business and civic leader, Voris King.  The collection is particularly rich in Masonic materials.

Seaman A. Knapp Collection
Various articles and books by or about Knapp, notices and letters at the time of his death, information on rice production, agricultural extension work and some photographs.

Knights of Columbus, Council 1207 Collection
Includes newsletters, programs, correspondence, organizational charter and other information on the local Lake Charles Knights of Columbus organization.  Also includes state-related materials.

Knights of St. Gregory Collection
Contains correspondence, state conference information and publicity from 1984-1992.

King Knox Collection
Includes letters and postcards written to and from King Knox and his family members between the 1870s and the 1940s.  Also contains miscellaneous paperwork, tax receipts, unidentified photographs and blank postcards.

Kiwanis Club of Lake Charles Collection
The collection consists of a green and white afghan depicting various historic sites, buildings, and institutions of Lake Charles, La.

Krause and Managan Lumber Company Collection
Includes cash books, journals, ledgers, plat books, sales books and employee records from 1882 to 1939 from the Krause and Managan Lumber Company, one of the earliest lumber mills in the Lake Charles area.  Rudolph Krause and William Henry Managan had acquired and renamed the Perkins and Miller Lumber Company in Westlake in 1906.

Krewe of Mystique Collection
The collection contains dress designs, fabric swatches, and photographs of krewe members wearing the dresses.  The Krewe of Mystique is an all female Mardi Gras Krewe that began in 1973.

Tony Kushner Collection
Contains periodicals, newspaper clippings, programs and playbills of "Angels in America: Perestroika" and "Angels in America: The Millennium Approaches."  Kushner, a Lake Charles native, won the 1993 Pulitzer Prize for drama.

The papers consist of LaBorde’s cards, letters, certificates, clippings, and photographs, primarily collected during his time in the Louisiana state legislature.

LaGrange High School Collection
The Collection, 1924-2002 (Bulk 1950-1990), consists of five series:  Resumes, the school yearbook; LaGator, the school newspaper; Football game programs; Student activities; and the Gatorettes, the school’s marching troupe.  The Student activities and Gatorettes series contain clippings, photographs, correspondence, ephemera, clothing, and scrapbooks.

Lake Charles Area Audio Collection
The collection consists of reel-to-reel tapes and cassette tapes of recordings of Lake Charles area symphonies and choruses. Included are the McNeese State University band and wind ensemble and the Lake Charles Civic Symphony.

The Lake Charles Cemetery Association Collection
The collection contains materials including the Orange Grove and Graceland cemetery listings, abstracts, deeds, plot plans and many other items from 1892-present.

Lake Charles Charter Commission Collection
Minutes, correspondence, drafts and other miscellaneous material concerning the preparation of the charter for the City of Lake Charles, 1959-1960, 1964.

This collection contains ledgers from the Lake Charles City Court covering dates from 1931-1979.

The Lake Charles Fire Department Collection
Contains log books from the Lake Charles Fires Department companies from 1922-1998.   Entries include company responding, date, time, location and type of fire.

Lake Charles Garden Club
The collection contains scrapbooks from the Lake Charles Garden Club from 1932, yearbooks from 1942, and information on various Garden Club projects.

Lake Charles High School
Memorabilia from 1895-2003 collected by the Lake Charles High School Booster Club.  Includes scrapbooks, publications, clothing, photographs, sports memorabilia, directories, plaques, trophies, artifacts, and administration documents.

Lake Charles Little Theatre Collection
Chronicles the theatre's productions from 1926-present.  Included in the collection are clippings, photographs, cast notes and programs.

Lake Charles Tax Records Collection
Tax rolls, assessment rolls and cash books from the tax collector's office for some years between 1898 and 1952.

Lake Charles Teachers' Association Records
The Lake Charles Teachers’ Association Records consist of the documents, photographs, clippings, ephemera and scrapbooks of the association from 1946 to 1967. The Records fall into four groups: the chairperson’s records and general information about the association, American Education Week activities, the Citizenship Committee records, and membership lists. The records are in chronological order within each group.

Lake Charles Troop 1 Boy Scouts of America Collection
The Collection contains annual charters, photographs, a souvenir book (1912) and miscellaneous papers documenting and describing the history of Troop 1 from its organization in 1911 to 1984.

C. E. Langley Collection
Various items from Langley's early career, while working at the Lake Charles Army Air Field, photographs of early water wells, information on raising cattle in the early 1920s in Imperial Calcasieu.

Conway LeBleu Collection
Contains two scrapbooks containing clippings, photographs and correspondence from 1964-1988, chronicling LeBleu's 24 years in the Louisiana House of Representatives from the 36th District.

LeBleu-Granger-von Zempter Collection
Contains materials chronicling the descendants of Martin Bartholemy LeBleu (c.1724), an early settler of Calcasieu Parish and Laurent Granger (1637), a resident of Acadia whose descendent emigrated to Louisiana.  The collection also contains information on the von Zempter family.

Kenneth Leithman Papers
The collection consists of photocopies of Leithman’s scrapbook (1968-2000, n.d.) and a copy of photograph depicting Leithman winning a race at Loyola University (May 1952). Documents in the scrapbook concern the “Young Turks” of the Louisiana State Legislature, including a copy of the articles of incorporation and bylaws, and Leithman’s political career. The photograph of a Loyola University race includes an inset photo of Leithman and a plaque noting his induction into the Loyola Hall of Fame. The photograph includes an inscription to Paul Hart Miller.

David Levingston Collection
Contains manuscripts of stories written by David Levingston, correspondence, newspaper and magazine articles, scrapbooks and other miscellaneous information pertaining to this writer.

Kenneth Levingston Collection
Contains plaques received by Kenneth Levingston and miscellaneous photographs and information about his life.

The Levingston/Franks Historic Newspaper Collection
Contains 169 bound volumes of Southwest Louisiana newspapers of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.  The same newspapers are also filmed on 65 rolls of microfilm housed in the Archives and Special Collections office.

Lions Club District 8-0 Collection
The collection contains scrapbooks for the Lions Club chapters in District 8-0, covering the years 1938 to 1973.  District 8-0 includes the Louisiana civil parishes of Acadia, Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Evangeline, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary and Vermilion. The collection also contains material from the Lake Charles Evening Lions Club from 1940s-1990s including: membership rosters, newsletters, minutes, and programs from the McNeese State College Operas which were sponsored by the Lake Charles Lions Club.

Mayo Land Title Company Collection
This collection contains photographs of the exhibit and reception held at Frazar Memorial Library, McNeese State University, in honor of Mr. Claudius Mayo and the 100th anniversary of the Mayo Land Title Company.  It also contains photographs of the Land Title Company office and other miscellaneous information.

Captain J. B. McIver Collection
Contains information on Captain J. B. McIver, former master of the company boats for Cities Service Oil Company, and, after retirement, captain of the yachts for Henry L. Doherty, founder of Cities Service.  Photographs of various fishing expeditions and yachts.  Information on McIver and his civic work in Lake Charles.

The John McNeese Collection
The collection consists of materials donated from different sources. The materials range from McNeese’s Civil War service to modern-day photographs of the McNeese family, including biographical articles and papers, copies of military records, photographs, and books. The collection also includes furniture from McNeese’s home and office.

The McNeese Alumni Association Collection
The collection consists of two large banners with the MSU 50th anniversary logo and a yellow handkerchief with the McNeese Alumni logo. The McNeese Alumni logo is based on McNeese’s first logo, the cowboy on a bucking horse with its back legs in the air. The collection also contains material relating to various class reunions.

Contains tapes and transcripts of interviews conducted with members of Mediterranean ethnic groups in Southwest Louisiana.  The collection currently has interviews with Italians and Lebanese.

Adolph Meyer Collection
Contains Board of Pharmacy certificates, police juror certificate and oaths of office, and miscellaneous information on Meyer, former pharmacist, police juror, and mayor of Lake Charles, early 1900's.

Dr. Donald J. Millet Collection
Contains addresses on historical subjects, photographs from the Lake Charles vicinity, material related to the Knapp memorial on the McNeese campus, correspondence and biographical material on area citizens.

MM Embroidery Club Collection
The collection contains three scrapbooks with clippings from 1910 to 1969 and minutes from the meetings from 1924 to 1983.

William E. Moderow Papers
The Papers consist of Moderow’s training materials, used during his time as a bombardier at Chennault Air Force Base, and printed materials from the U.S. Air Force.

Montaigne Society Collection
The Montaigne Society is a group of thirty gentlemen meeting each month, except during the summer, to enjoy good food, ideas, and fellowship. The Society began in 1995 and is still active. The Records consists mainly of the papers presented at each meeting from 1995 to the present. Other records include membership lists, member biographies, menus, and invitations.

The Clement M. Moss Papers
The papers consist of reproductions of two photographs of Clement M. Moss and two campaign flyers.  One campaign flyer concerns Moss’ campaign for District Judge (ca. 1961).  The other flyer outlines the “Home Rule” ticket spearheaded by Cleveland Dear for Governor (1936).

Mayor Willie L. Mount Collection
The collection consists of scrapbooks containing newspaper clippings from the Lake Charles American Press during Mount’s terms of office as mayor of Lake Charles from 1993-1999.

Muller's Department Store Collection

A. J. Rybiski, Jr. Photograph Collection
Contains negatives and prints of photographs taken by Mr. Rybiski over a 35-year period, beginning in the late 1940s-early 1950s. Most of the photographs are of the Lake Charles area and include numerous subjects, such as schools, churches, businesses, aerial views, individuals. The collection is extensive. Requests for information on specific holdings of the collection should be made to the Archives Department. The collection also contains several boxes of negatives from photographer Isaac Murrey.

Edward A. Seton Collection
A collection of letters written during the Civil War, primarily by 1st Lt. Edward A. Seton of Company K, 10th Louisiana Infantry.   The Letters give details of battles fought at Malvern Hill, Cedar Run, Second Manassas, Chancellorsville and others.  They also contain information about camp life, Seton's views on life in the army and the progress of the war.

Elizabeth Shidler Collection
A miscellaneous collection containing tax receipts paid in the City of Lake Charles and Calcasieu Parish by relatives from 1889-1933, weather ledgers kept from 1924-1927, ledgers from the Watson Machine Shop, 1923-1931 and other items.

Velmer Lenora Smith Papers
The collection consists of articles written by Velmer Lenora Smith, naturalist and historian, who researches and writes articles about Beauregard Parish. Subjects included in the collection are histories of towns and sites in the parish, the Atakapa Indians, the Bundick Swamp area, local legends, the Civil War, and World War II.

Paul A. Sompayrac Collection
The collection contains the Notarial Register of Lake Charles attorney and notary public Paul A. Sompayrac from 1891-1894. Included are copies promissory notes and public instruments of protest.

Southwest Louisiana Artifacts Collection
The Collection consists of artifacts commemorating notable events and places in the area. The Collection also includes written material and artifacts regarding the anniversaries of the founding of Lake Charles in 1867 and Imperial Calcasieu Parish in 1840.

Southwest Louisiana Cemetery Collection
A collection containing information on Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron and Jeff Davis Parish Cemeteries.

Southwest Louisiana Historical Association Collection
The Southwest Louisiana Historical Association records consists of the administrative papers, meeting minutes, membership lists, newsletters, scrapbooks, notes, photographic materials, and project files, 1952-2004. This collection receives continual additions as the work of the Association continues.

Truman H. Stacey Collection
The collection contains materials relating to the Knights of Columbus, the Knights of Peter Claver, and the Pontifical Orders of Knights, as well as other organizations including the Serra Club, the Boy Scouts of America, and the American Legion. Materials include scrapbooks, photographs, correspondence, personal writings, and much more. The materials in this collection relate to the life, work, and interests of Truman Stacey.

Stars and Stripes Collection
A complete file of the official newspaper of the American Expeditionary Forces printed in France from February 8, 1913 to June 13, 1919.

The Vic Stelly Papers
The Papers consist of documents, certificates, photographs, and clippings relating to Stelly’s political and civic activities.

The Raleigh A. Suarez Papers
The papers consist of Suarez’ graduate school papers, professional papers, Louisiana Historical Association materials, and McNeese artifacts. Suarez was a History professor and Vice President for Academic Affairs at McNeese. The collection also includes a collection of three personal essays by Loraine Suarez.

The Sidney W. Sweeney Collection
The collection contains photographs, biographical information, legislative materials and texts of several speeches, newspaper clippings about Sweeney’s activities while state senator and various other items related to his life.

The Sam Tarleton Papers
The collection contains 37 reel-to-reel tape recordings of Sam Tarleton’s radio sports talk program as well as other state and local news commentary. A few of the recordings are from the 1950s, but most are from the 1980s.   

The Joe Gray Taylor Papers
The Papers consist of typescripts of Taylor's books with handwritten notes, correspondence, and working papers. Taylor was a History professor and Dean of Liberal Arts at McNeese.

The Elaine M. Tieman Papers
The Papers consist of materials Tieman collected from family members, mostly concerning Mrs. Arthur G. Wachsen and Captain George Lock.

The David C. Treen Collection
Three-ring notebook entitled, “Accomplishments of the Governor David C. Treen Administration, 1980-1984.” This compilation features reports submitted to the Governor by Secretaries of each State Department summarizing the issues of the day and the accomplishments of those departments during the four-year term of Governor Treen. An Executive Summary of Accomplishments is featured in Section One of the notebook.

Upsilon Conclave of Kappa Kappa Iota Collection
The collection contains handbooks, minutes, newsletters and photographs for this first teaching sorority in Lake Charles.  The organization of this conclave took place at the Majestic Hotel in Lake Charles on February 15, 1958.

Vanishing History Collection
Contains the digital photographs from "Vanishing History," a community outreach project of the Calcasieu Parish Gifted Program.  Photos document historical sites and places around South Louisiana and Lake Charles.  Collection also contains two CD-ROMs with color photos and video of the Project.

Veterans History Project Collection
The Veterans History Project is a collaboration between the Mayor’s Armed Forces Committee and the MSU Departments of History, Mass Communication, and Archives and Special Collections.  The Project stems from the American Folklife Center’s nationwide effort to document the experiences of American veterans.  The local VHP collection consists of videotapes, audiotapes, and transcripts of interviews with local veterans of World War II, the Korean war and the Vietnam war.  Materials are arranged alphabetically by veteran’s name.  The veterans interviewed served in the Air Force, Army, Navy, Merchant Marine, and the Women’s Air Force Service Pilots.

Joseph J. Vincent Collection
Contains the manuscript and original sketches of the author's book, A Streak o' Lean and A Streak o' Fat.  The book tells of the pioneers and homesteaders of Southwest Louisiana and Southwest Texas.  The collection also contains correspondence and reviews.

Visiting Artists Group Collection
The collection contains a scrapbook from the Visiting Artists Group, a group of Lake Charles private citizens that housed visiting artists, containing a photograph, correspondence, clippings and programs from 1961-1981.

Gilbert and Melba Watson Photograph Collection
The collection consists of black and white photographs taken in and around the Lake Charles area during the late 1930's - early 1940's. Photographs include scenes of Ryan Street, Shell Beach Drive, City Hall, the Court House, Big Lake, and the Watson Machine Shop.

Thomas D. Watson Collection
The collection contains photographs of the crews with which Watson served in Korea and aerial photographs of bombing sites. The collection also contains official papers pertaining to Watson’s enlistment and service in the United States Air Force from 1951-1959.

Roger White Collection
The collection consists of a scrapbook containing correspondence, citations, articles, pamphlets and journals concerning the activities of ham radio operators in Southwest Louisiana during the crisis period caused by hurricane Audrey in June 1957.

Fritzi Krause Wilson Collection
The collection consists of Civil War era correspondence from Captain Daniel J. Goos and his wife, Barbara Goos, newspaper clippings, invitations, legal documents, photographs of the Goos family, poetry and an article written by Fritzi K. Wilson for the Lake Charles American Press.

Margery Parsons Wilson Collection
Prompt books and scrapbooks belonging to Mrs. Wilson, who established the McNeese Department of Speech and organized the Bayou Players.   Photographs, clippings, poems, notecards, newsletters, programs, one box of award Plaques (4) and correspondence are included.

Women's Auxiliary of Hospitals of Lake Charles Collection
Clippings, photographs, newsletters, committee reports and programs from the Women's Auxiliary of Hospitals from 1950-1955.

The Dr. John A. Wood Papers
The Papers consist of personal photographs of memorabilia of Wood’s family; letters and poems to Wood; manuscript materials and research notes for “Secrets of the Dark Chamber: Writings on the American Daguerreotype;” and signed posters from literary events on the McNeese campus. The Papers also include three Robert Olen Butler manuscripts and photographs of Butler’s wedding.

World Wars Collection
Includes three scrapbooks with newspaper articles and photographs from World Wars I & II and miscellaneous information pertaining to the World Wars.
