Biographical Sketch

Geneva Lisotta Cotten was a member of the Lake Charles City Council from July 1981 to June 1985. She is a graduate of Lake Charles High School. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from McNeese State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education. She was a member of several civic groups, including the Lake Charles League of Women Voters, the Junior League of Lake Charles, and Phi Kappa Phi honor fraternity. Cotten's interests include many social issues, including advocacy for women’s rights. 


Scope and Content Note

The papers, primarily from the 1970s, consist of conference materials and printed materials regarding women’s rights issues. The conferences Cotten attended include the Governor’s Conference on Women, June, 1976, and the Mayor’s Commission on Women.
