Special Collections Department Biographical Sketch Jack V. Doland was born in 1928 in Lake Arthur, Louisiana. He attended Tulane University and Louisiana State University, earning a Doctorate in Education. In 1952, Doland married Nell Richardson and later they had two daughters, Connie and Diane. Doland began his career by coaching football at DeQuincy and Sulphur High Schools and soon became an assistant coach at LSU, 1965-1970. From 1970 to 1979, Doland served as the Athletic Director of MSU. Then, in 1979, the Board of Regents appointed Doland President of MSU. In 1987, Doland resigned his presidency and ran successfully for the Louisiana Senate. He remained a state senator until his death in 1991. Scope and Content Note

proclamations, and letters surrounding Doland’s death,
1991-1992; and an advertising proof sheet for Doland’s
