Historical Sketch

Les Brodeuses is a community group of people interested in rug hooking. The Lake Charles group, begun in 1978, is Chapter 50 of the National Guild of Pearl K. McGown Rug Hookcrafters, Inc. The term “les brodeuses” means “ladies skilled with their fingers.”

Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of two scrapbooks outlining the activities of the group from 1982 to 1989. Elva Dommert, an early member of the club, created the scrapbooks. The scrapbooks include photographs, invitations, membership lists, notices of meetings, and other ephemera.
