Biographical Sketch

Clement M. Moss (1902-1970) served as a state senator from Southwest Louisiana (1932-1936). Moss ran unsuccessfully for Louisiana Lieutenant Governor in 1936 on the “Home Rule” ticket with Cleveland Dear. Moss served as the City Attorney of Lake Charles (1937-1939, 1941-1945), as a board member of the Lake Charles Harbor and Terminal District (1940-1948), and as a District Judge (1960-1970).

Scope and Content Note

The collection, in one folder, consists of reproductions of two photographs of Clement M. Moss on the Senate Floor and two campaign flyers. One of the photographs has Huey Long in the background. One campaign flyer concerns Moss’ campaign for District Judge (ca. 1961). The other flyer outlines the “Home Rule” ticket spearheaded by Cleveland Dear for Governor (1936).
