Mission and Goals
Mission
The Collection Management Department supports
the Frazar Memorial Library's Mission to provide access to
information for both the McNeese community and the Southwest
Louisiana Community. The Collection Management
Department contributes to this mission by purchasing new
materials, removing outdated materials, and managing
subscriptions and licenses for access to other (not owned)
materials in the
non-serials collections of the Library in accordance with its
Collection Management Policies and Procedures.

Relationship to Other Libraries and Departments
The Frazar Memorial Library building houses
most of the university's book and media collection. The Collection Management Department oversees
the Main Collection and the Reference Collection of the Library,
including Audio-Visual Materials. This department is
also responsible for non-serial databases.
The Serials
Department oversees the print serials collection of the
Frazar Memorial Library as well as serials-related databases,
abstract and indexing databases, and full-text serials
databases.
The
Performing Arts Library houses a non-circulating
performing arts print reference collection, reserve materials
supporting current courses taught, circulating scores and
scripts, and extensive audio resources which circulate to
faculty members only.
The Collection Management department supplements purchases for
Performing Arts Library materials to support its own mission of providing materials
for all University Programs.
The
Curriculum Materials Center enhances and supports the
College of
Education and is a Support Service of the
Office of Certification
and Support Services. The Collection Management
department supplements purchases for materials pertaining to
Curriculum Development and Juvenile Literature to support its
mission of providing materials for the University Programs.
The Archives and Special Collections are managed by the
Archives Department.
The Collection Management Department supplements purchases for
materials in the areas of Faculty Publishing, Local Interest,
and Professional Development.
The Collection Management department also
supports the work of the
Library Liaisons to the Departments and the Departmental
Representatives to the Library.
Recommendations for purchases of materials for
Library system may be routed through the Collection Management
Department via an online
form. Recommendations are accepted from anyone.
Students and Faculty members are encouraged to submit
recommendations directly or through their departmental
Representative to the Library.
