HISTORY ACCESSIBLE ONLINE
The McNeese archives developed a project last year to
post local history publications online. The project was funded by the
Community Support Fund (2007). In this initial phase, 15 titles were
placed online:
These
online publications are full-text books that are accessible through the
library’s
online catalog as well as through the Archives
web site. The text of each book is keyword searchable
– a very useful feature since none of these books are indexed.
The
public response to this project indicates that it has been a great
success. It has also proved to be very useful to the Archives
Department in its efforts to aid researchers. In 2008, it is
anticipated that additional titles will be added.
